Pattern Fit & Design with Lyn Weeks - 1st Friday of the Month.

Lyn has sewn garments from an early age, gained a Fashion & Design degree from Chicago and spent a large part of her life hand embroidering baby garments and studying the finer details of antique Christening gowns.

Lyn currently works with fellow stitchers who would like to sew for themselves but find it almost impossible to purchase a garment pattern that not only fits, but also flatters. Using the training from several years of flat-pattern studies in Chicago, Lyn offers assistance to participants in classes with very small numbers, which allows for the maximum time of one-on-one help.

These classes begin with purchasing a simple garment pattern that we can use for developing the correctly fitting bodice before using this amended pattern to create garments with flattering design details. Lyn likes to start with a Tessuti Pattern, as these have been professionally designed and incorporate very few pattern pieces or complicated construction techniques - try the ‘Eva’ , ‘Felicia’, ‘Bella’.

The classes will be held on the first Friday of every month and allow you to participate on a continuing basis or join the class for one or more lessons when you need assistance or there is a vacancy in class numbers. The class focuses on developing your master pattern for future use and putting this pattern to the test by constructing your garment. Although the focus of Thread Botanic is centred around quilting, there are many wonderful fabrics on the Thread Botanica shelves which would be perfect for your newly designed garment, including some of the fabulous Liberty of London® Lawns that Lyn loves so much.
