Lorena Uriate Kawandi Workshop
Learn the art of Kawandi hand stitching. Kawandi are quilts made by the Siddi community (Indian people of African descent). The utility quilts are made from used clothing and textiles which are handstitched to a backing fabric.
In this class you will learn to create your own Kawandi sampler (approximately 30cm square), learning all the techniques to complete your small quilt.
One Day Kawandi Workshop - Saturday 2nd November, 2024. (10am to 3pm).
Cost - $130.00 (Includes class kit with everything you need make a sample Kawandi piece).
What to bring - scissors, preferred thimble (a stick on thimble is included).
Class includes morning tea. BYO lunch or there are surrounding cafes.
